Koh Larn, also known as Coral Island, is one of the eastern seaboard islands of Thailand, located about 7.5 kilometers from Pattaya. You can reach Koh Larn by ferry in 45 minutes or by speedboat in only 20 minutes.
How Far is Ko Larn From Pattaya?
Koh Larn is approximately 7.5 kilometers away from Pattaya, making it an ideal day trip destination.
There are two Koh Larn Pattaya ferry options available for those traveling from Pattaya to Koh Larn: Pattaya to Naban Port and Pattaya to Tawean Beach (the most popular beach on Koh Larn).
Alternatively, you can opt for a speed boat for a quicker journey to the island. Note that most ferries and speedboats will go to Naban Pier, so I recommend booking your accommodation in that area for added convenience.
What Is the Pier In Pattaya?
The main pier in Pattaya is Bali Hai Pier, which serves as the main ferry pier for the island. This pier is located at the south end of Pattaya Beach, near the Walking Street and Beach Road.
What are the Piers In Koh Larn?
When you arrive at Ko Larn, you will find two ports: Naban Village Pier and Tawaen Beach Pier. These piers offer both ferry and speed boat services, with various boat operators to choose from.
The most popular pier is Naban Pier, as it’s conveniently located near hotels and guesthouses, as it’s the main village and where the locals live.
Also, if you book your ferry from Pattaya to Ko Larn online, you’re most likely to get a boat to Naban Pier (which is better anyways).
When Should You Buy Your Koh Larn Ferry Tickets?
If you decide to take the speed boat to Koh Larn, then I recommend booking online as soon as possible as it’s the most popular option and it sells out quickly.
The same goes for day trips from Pattaya, as a tour group is the most convenient option and, especially in the summertime, it often gets sold out.
On the other hand, for the regular ferry service, they can be purchased on the day of travel for only 30 baht per person. You cannot pre-book your ticket online, and you should expect some queues.
Pattaya to Koh Larn Ferry: Timetable and Prices
Ferries to Ko Larn Island operate daily, with two separate routes available: Pattaya to Naban Port and Pattaya to Tawaen Beach. The cost for a one-way trip on the ferry is an affordable 30 THB per person.
However, you can also take a speed boat, which only costs 200 baht, or about US$5, and it takes half the time and is more comfortable. I personally took the regular ferry to go to Ko Larn and then a speed boat to get back.
Needless to say, the latter was much more comfortable and time-efficient. Here’s the regular ferry timetable to go from Pattaya to Koh Larn:
Regular Ferry Schedule | Price per person | |
Pattaya to Na Baan Port | 07.00am, 10.00am, 12.00pm, 2.00pm, 3.30pm, 5.00pm, 6.30pm | 30THB per person |
Pattaya to Tawaen Port | 08.00am, 09.00am, 11.00am, 1.00pm | 30THB per person |
On the other hand, when it comes to the speed boat schedule, they leave every 30 minutes from Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya, which is much more convenient.
I recommend pre-booking your tickets on 12Go.Asia for a smoother experience and no issues at Bali Hai Pier.
