There are dozens of places to work in town, but I’ve selected only the best coworking spaces in Chiang Mai (that I personally worked out and that I would recommend). So there you go; the best places in Chiang Mai to work are below.

Yellow Coworking Space Chiang Mai

Yellow is one of the most popular coworking spaces in Chiang Mai, and for good reasons.

Located in Nimman, near cheap and delicious restaurants, super-fast internet, shower rooms, excellent coffee, and Skype/YouTube meeting rooms, you’ll get everything you could ever need.

Their prices are in line with Punspace and I can totally recommend working at Yellow Coworking Space.

Punspace @ Chiang Mai Old City

Modern desks and meeting rooms inside and pleasant space to work outside, Punspace is one of the most enjoyable coworking spaces in Chiang Mai.

Among all their features, you’ll be able to use their high-speed internet, their Skype rooms, the printer and scanner as well as their parking lot and smoking area. Did I tell you about the free coffee and tea included in their daily package?

Also, they have 3 locations in Chiang Mai (Wiang Kaew/Old City, Nimman, and Tha Phae Gate) which are the most convenient parts of the city for both working and enjoying your new life.

CAMP At Maya

If you prefer working at a modern and practical place, then CAMP at Maya is your best bet. Located inside Nimman’s Maya shopping mall, they have fast internet, comfortable seats, relatively cheap drinks, meeting rooms, and a terrace with view on Doi Suthep.

Also, while most (if not all) of us drink coffee or tea while working, it isn’t mandatory to buy any drink, and you’ll be able to work (or chill) for free. You can get all types of drinks and food while working and go to the cinema 20-feet away after your shift.

If you’re looking for a comfortable and convenient coworking space in Chiang Mai that is close to everything, you can’t miss out on CAMP.

However, it’s worth noting that most customers are students or YouTubers, marketers, etc. So in case you work in customer service and have to talk on the phone regularly, this is the best place to work as it’s usually pretty quiet.

Opening Times: Mon to Fri: 11 AM to 12 AM – Sat and Sun: 10 AM to 12 AM
Cost:
You only pay for your drinks. The minimum price for internet access is 50 THB
Address
: Located inside Maya Shopping Mall in Nimman

Buristro Bar & Cafe

Buristro is one of the high-end coworking spaces in Chiang Mai that will make your shift comfortable and enjoyable. I can only recommend it with their fast internet, incredible swimming pool, modern environment, and English-speaking staff.

Other than working, of course, you’re free to come to have lunch, chill at the pool, or, like me, study Thai.

Also, their drinks and dishes are affordable (and delicious!) for the Nimman area, and you’ll be able to sit either inside or outside, and, let’s be honest, we all like to choose.

Opening Times: 7 AM to 11 PM daily
Cost:
Only pay for drinks and food, internet access included
Address
: Siri Mangkalajarn Rd, Nimman, Chiang Mai

Life Space

The affordable, productive setting and great coffee are what describe Life Space best. Before jumping right into the details, let me tell you know that I used to work at Life Space nearly every day and I loved it.

The desks and chairs and comfortable, it’s fairly quiet so you’ll be as productive as you can get, and the staff speaks English, which is definitely a plus.

On top of that, they also offer plugs, extra screens, and other accessories for free during the day. So if you need an extra screen to get your work done, this is the right place for you.

Also, it’s located right in the heart of Nimman, which is probably where you’ll end up staying, so Life Space couldn’t be any more convenient. And, they have beds to relax in during your break!

Opening Times: Daily from 9.30 am to 10.00 pm – closed on Mondays
Cost: From 99 THB ($3.5) for 5 hours
Address: 11, Soi 15 Nimmanhaeminda Road, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai

Best Coworking Spaces In Chiang Mai – FAQ

Now that you’ve seen all the best places to work in Chiang Mai, let’s cover more administrative stuff and other questions you might have here below.

Is It Legal To Work Online In Thailand?

It is legal to work online in Thailand, but just not on a tourist or education visa. While most digital nomads enter Thailand with a tourist visa and extend it to stay several months, it’s officially illegal and you should be aware of the consequences.

According to the Thai Embassy, foreigners need a work permit to do pretty much any job that a Thai citizen can do (including blogging, web development, and teaching).

As mentioned previously, while it’s illegal to work as a tourist or as a student, most digital nomads enter Thailand on a tourist visa and work in coworking spaces for a month or a longer period of time.

Entering Thailand is pretty easy; the standard tourist visa lasts 1 month, and you can live anywhere, spending a low amount of money.

In plain words, if you want to work remotely legally in Thailand, you should apply and get the right paperwork first. The most popular agency is Siam Legal, and they provide help with all types of visas (I haven’t personally used them).

How Much Does It Cost To Live In Chiang Mai?

You can live in Chiang Mai with a pretty low salary, as low as $800 per month. That being said, in order to live comfortably in a nice place and nice area, and to afford international food every so often, a minimum of $1,200 is recommended.

Where Do Most Expats Live In Chiang Mai?

Most expats live in Nimman, which is the upscale part of town with nice condos, international restaurants, cafes, Maya shopping mall, and lots of souvenir shops.

What is the Best Coworking Space in Chiang Mai?

The best coworking space in Chiang Mai is Yellow – offering an inside and outside area, accessible 24/7 to members, providing great coffee and some of the best chairs you’ve ever worked on.

My Take On Remote Work In Thailand

These were the best places you could work at in Chiang Mai, Thailand. With only a few dollars a day, you could spend the whole shift working with other expats around, making new friends, and meeting deadlines for your projects more easily.

The last remark I want to add is while these coworking spaces are great, many people work from cafes around town – they’re cheaper, comfortable, and very cool. That said, they aren’t always open, so you’ll want to check their opening times before starting work!

Let’s face it, working remotely in Chiang Mai is great. Overall, the weather is nice all year round (or almost), the cost of living is low, food is generally delicious, and it’s safe. What else could you ever need?
